Martin Nievera in Hot Water For Singing National Anthem Wrong

Martin Nievera is in deep sh*t for singing the Philippine National Anthem "Lupang Hinirang" wrong during the pre-fight ceremony for the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton bout on May 2. It was the National Historical Institute that started it all when some official from that agency said that Martin's rendition was all kinds of wrong. And now a congressman from Cavite is charging Martin for violating the Flag and Heraldic Code, whatever that is.

The NHI and that lawmaker should just STFU and move along. If were are being strict about it, how about they arrest and jail Filipinos who answer "Bayang Magiliw" when ask what the title of our national anthem is during very tensed situations like the Q&A of Go Bingo. Or Filipinos who don't stop when the national anthem is being sung. Or those in the movie theaters who don't stand up when they hear Lupang Hinirang before the last full show.

Can't we just accept that there was no intention to disrespect the national anthem? Is putting Martin Nievera in jail for singing Lupang Hinirang wrong more important than say, cleaning the water and sewage systems of garbage because typhoon season is upon us?

I'm imagining if Martin does go to jail, he'd definitely be a prison bitch. If I'm not mistaken the pecking order in jail depends on what the type crime you've been convicted. The masters would definitely be those hardcore murderers, drug dealers or kidnappers (but definitely not the rapists or child touchers because they are the default prison bitches, I think). I'm just saying it's hard to establish "prison cred" if the crime that put you in jail is for singing the national anthem wrong.
